Short version: the app has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it never sends your location anywhere.
What stays on your device
Everything the app remembers about you is kept on your phone and nowhere else:
- the courses you have starred, opened recently, or unlocked
- the rounds you have kept, with the players’ names and their scores
- whether you have upgraded
- any problem report you have saved
None of it is uploaded, backed up to us, or readable by anyone but you. Deleting the app deletes all of it. There is no account and no copy of any of it on a server. The one thing the app can send is a problem report, and only when you write one and press send — see below.
Your location
The app can show where you are on the course, which way you are facing, and how far you are from the green. All of that is worked out on your device.
Your position is never transmitted. It is not sent to us, and not sent to any other service. If you decline the location permission, or turn it off later, everything else in the app still works — you simply do not get the dot or the distances.
The weather
When you open a course’s details, the app asks the Norwegian Meteorological Institute for the forecast. To do that it sends the coordinates of the golf course — a public place, listed in the app for everyone — together with the app’s name and version. It does not send your position, an identifier, or anything about you. Their terms are at https://api.met.no/doc/TermsOfService.
Everything else the app draws is in it already, which is why it works with no signal. The only other thing it ever sends is a problem report, and only when you write one.
Reporting a problem with a map
Reporting is always your choice. The app never sends one on its own, and everything else in it works whether you ever report anything or not.
If you do write a report, pressing send posts it to us. It contains:
- the course it is about, and its name
- anything you wrote in the details
- the drawing, if you made one — a picture of the course map with your marks on it
- your email address, only if you chose to type one in, which is used to reply to you about that report and for nothing else
That is the whole of it. Your location is not part of a report, and neither is anything about you or your phone: no identifier, no account, no device details.
Reports are read only to improve the maps. They are not published, shared, or used for anything else.
Links out of the app
Directions, a club’s website, and the licence pages open in your maps app or browser. Once you are there, that app’s and that website’s own privacy terms apply, not this one.
Purchases
Purchases are handled by the App Store or Google Play, not by this app. They tell the app only whether a purchase exists; the app never sees your name, your email, or your payment details, and no purchase information is sent anywhere else.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone.
Your rights
Nothing is held about you unless you sent a problem report and chose to put your address in it — everything else is on your own device, under your own control. If you have sent a report and would like it and your address deleted, ask at the address below and it will be.
Changes
If the app ever collects anything, this policy will say so before that version ships, and the date at the top will change.
